Rooted in a 1970s Guiding Tradition, Family Wildlife Tours Return to Jackson Hole
Jackson, United States – May 21, 2026 / Teton Expeditions /
JACKSON HOLE, WY – Teton Expeditions is returning to Jackson Hole with a straightforward premise at the heart of its new chapter: families should not simply visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone. They should experience them together.
Re-founded by Jeff Tibbitts and Evan Toal, Teton Expeditions draws on more than 50 combined years of guiding, outfitting, and wildlife interpretation across the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. The company operates in a new form today, but its origins trace back to the 1970s, when David Tibbitts helped define a guiding philosophy grounded in knowledge, humility, patience, and respect for the land.
David Tibbitts was Jeff’s father. He was also among the first to show both Jeff and Evan what guiding could look like when done with intention – not as a transaction, not as a checklist, but as a genuine effort to help people understand and develop a lasting connection to a place.
“We know what it looks like when this is done right,” said co-founder Evan Toal. “We built this company around that vision.”
Teton Expeditions offers half-day and full-day guided wildlife tours of Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, with pickup and drop-off available throughout the Jackson Hole area. Tours are structured for small groups, families, multi-generational travelers, and guests seeking a more personal way to explore the parks.
The company’s central message, “See It Together,” reflects the kind of experience Teton Expeditions is built to provide. A child encountering a moose for the first time. Grandparents watching bison move across an open valley. Parents slowing down long enough to absorb what surrounds them. The objective is not simply to point out wildlife, but to create a shared memory that remains with the entire family.
“The parks are for everyone,” said co-founder Jeff Tibbitts. “But not everyone experiences them the same way. We want families, older travelers, and first-time visitors to feel comfortable, curious, and included from the moment they step into the vehicle.”
That guest-centered approach shapes every element of the operation. Tours are deliberately paced. Questions are welcomed. Guides are chosen not only for their depth of knowledge, but for their character, patience, and capacity to engage guests across different generations. Many come from backgrounds in natural history, science education, outdoor leadership, and wildlife interpretation.
For families, this makes the natural world accessible at every age. For older travelers, it means no rushed schedules, no crowded vehicles, and no sense that a slower pace or a question is an imposition. Every tour is structured around connection – to the landscape, to the wildlife, to the guide, and to each other.
The Greater Yellowstone ecosystem ranks among the most significant wild landscapes in North America. Grizzly bears, wolves, bison, elk, moose, pronghorn, eagles, and a broad range of other species inhabit a region shaped by geology, conservation, migration, and generations of stewardship. Teton Expeditions aims to help guests understand and appreciate that larger story.
“Every family that spends a day in the parks with one of our guides is a potential steward,” Tibbitts said. “Every kid who sees a moose cross a river for the first time is a future advocate. That is what this is really about.”
Teton Expeditions is currently accepting bookings for the 2026 season. Half-day and full-day wildlife tours are available for Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Private tours and group rates are offered for families, multi-generational travel parties, and special occasions.
