Heating season is about to arrive across the Omaha metro, and the first cold snaps are only weeks away.

The glass gets smaller. Because the new unit nests inside the old opening, the visible glass shrinks, so the room takes in less daylight and the view out narrows.

The wall never gets re-waterproofed. The flashing and weather barrier behind the trim are the parts that actually keep water out of the framing, and an insert leaves them exactly as they were, so an old leak stays an old leak.

We open the wall, we look, and we fix what we find before the new window ever goes in, which is why we’ve only ever done full-frame replacement.”
